As a mom to boys, I rarely get to make anything pink. Or in tutu. (Except for myself of course.)
We wear a lot of "army" this and "army" that and we dress up as "Fireman Steve Hawks" and clone troopers and darth vaders and "Racerman Steves" and we run around shooting at things (even though mommy doesn't like all the shooting and makes it pretty well-known around the house) and saying things like "blast!" and "destroy!" and taking a brief pause to check out a girl on the playground.
No princesses here. (Although my youngest did call himself Ariel for a few months.)
They even protest the pink Ikea spoon (how did colors develop genders, by the way? I truly am mystified.)
But I do have a niece. Oh yes, my one little girlie light peeking out from a dirt-filled high-energy crazy boy world.
And I love it.
As much as I love all the dirt and the spills and the tumbles that go along with having my boys (because it really is fun), I do love me some girlie once in a while.
And oh, how I CANNOT WAIT until she tries on this teeny tiny sparkly wonderfulness for her 2nd birthday.
Which is today.
Just making this pinkness made my cup runneth over. To me, a girlie girl in a boys world, there is just nothing better than pink and sparkles.
Happy Birthday, sweet sweet girl!

Happy birthday to your niece! Dang, what a cutie! Love that grin and those sparkley eyes and the cheeeeeks! I know she's going to adore Auntie Christie's tutu.
Oh my, those eyes are going to break some hearts one day. She is going to look adorable in that tutu. Maybe I need to make some for my granddaughters. Are they hard? I'm not great with sewing.
Awwww. And whoa! Her eyes are just adorable!
Aw, so cute! The tutu and your niece. Girly stuff is fun.
